Blouberg's pristine sparkling white beaches and aquamarine seas are undeniably spectacular, with jaw dropping views of South Africa’s legendary landmarks - Table Mountain & Robben Island. Both sites are World Heritage sites. As a matter of interest - Table Mountain is often veiled in a blue haze and that’s where the name Blouberg originated!

Being a popular holiday destination, Blouberg is also a culinary treat. There are tantalizing restaurants catering for all tastes and needs. Many of these restaurants are situated by the seaside and offer great sunset views.

Sports | Western Seaboard

Two of the Western Cape's most beautiful golf courses are also situated in the Western Seaboard area, one at Atlantic Beach and one at Sunset Links | Milnerton. These golf courses residential estates offer exclusive living within a secure environment.

The Western Seaboard is the ideal outdoors destination and offers one of the best kite surfing destinations in the world. Kite surfers from all over the world congregate in large numbers over the summer months and several international championships were held at Blouberg in the past.

Melkbosstrand

Melkbosstrand (Afrikaans: "Milk bush beach") is a coastal village and beach on the West Coast of South Africa, north of Blaauwberg and named after the species of Euphorbiaceous bushes which grow on the dunes and give off milky latex like substance. The area is commonly referred to simply as “Melkbos”.

Melkbosstrand includes the highly popular Atlantic Beach Golf Estate and Duynefontein.

Melkbosstrand owes much of its present day infrastructure to two significant developments in the late seventies.

Firstly - Koeberg PowerStation - a nuclear reactor, constructed with the help of the British and French some 6 km north of Melkbosstrand, necessitated the creation of high quality housing for the foreign contractors.

Secondly, the SA government subsidized creation of Atlantis Diesel Engines (ADE), a joint venture between the British Perkins-Elmer & German DaimlerBenz, to bypass international sanctions during the apartheid years.
